Our Story
Tektraco is the brainchild of three veteran electrical engineers with telecoms industry experience, who together with another two entrepreneurs, set it up in 1990. The company’s original aim was to undertake telecoms projects in Libya and to support the local operators with the right test and measurement (T&M) equipment. The key element of the success of the company was the clear understanding of the industry requirements and the close relationships built with vendors. This facilitated Tektraco’s portfolio expansion whilst supporting the engineering needs of educational institutions and the industry in general.
The knowhow acquired in being trained by the best T&M vendors, coupled with the entrepreneurial spirit of the founders, gave light to Tektraco’s early core business, Telecoms infrastructure. Some projects which are the foundation of this nations' progress are: the first fibre optic cable at MIA, the Radar systems and control tower at the airport; the national master antenna for FM radio stations; and the Malta Communications Authority spectrum monitoring stations.
The company had similar success in Libya, executing many infrastructural projects especially in the Oil & Gas sector. Tektraco opened other very successful ventures in Medical gasses, Lab and Environmental monitoring while continuing to maintain a strong presence in the Telecoms field. This diversification led to the creation of Tektraco Telecoms.
Tektraco Telecoms remains an engineering company; we carry the best brands of T&M equipment for the most varied applications possible, we remain fully committed to the telecom operators by delivering expertise and equipment to all local players. We continue to apply this engineering know how to projects by delivering cutting edge telecommunication services such as TV, Data and telephony over fibre optics.
